Privacy policy
Last updated 5 October 2026
RAF Film Lab is built so that we never see your photos or anything about them. There is no RAF Film Lab account, no server of ours that stores your information, no analytics and no advertising.
What the app stores and where
- Your photos and edits stay on your device. On the Mac, the app keeps a reference to each RAF where you imported it from; on iPad and iPhone it keeps a copy inside the app. Its library of edits, ratings, flags and albums, and the previews it makes, are stored on the device.
- iCloud sync is off until you turn it on. When it's on, each photo's RAF file and its edits are stored in your own iCloud Drive, in a private folder only RAF Film Lab can see, and downloaded by your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. We have no access to it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
- Automatic mask selections (subject, sky, people, faces) are made on your device with Apple's Vision framework. Nothing is uploaded to do it.
What we collect
Nothing from the app. It has no analytics, no crash reporting of its own and no advertising identifiers, and it makes no network requests to us.
If you choose to share crash reports or TestFlight feedback with developers, Apple passes them to us as described in Apple's TestFlight terms.
This website
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare processes requests (such as IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. We don't use cookies or analytics.
- TestFlight sign-up: if you enter your email to join the beta, it is sent to Apple's App Store Connect to invite you to TestFlight, and kept there as a TestFlight tester. We don't store it anywhere else or use it for anything else. The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that you're a person without tracking you across sites.
Your choices
- Turn iCloud sync off in Settings at any time. Photos already in iCloud stay there until you delete them in the app.
- Deleting the app deletes its library and previews from that device. Your original RAF files on the Mac are never touched.
- To leave the TestFlight beta, open RAF Film Lab in the TestFlight app and choose Stop Testing.
Children
RAF Film Lab collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
